Between 5:30 and 11:30 a.m. Whimbrel counts totalled 2542 at Colonel Sam
Smith Park and 350 at Marie Curtis Park [TOTAL = 2892]. Richard Joos
arrived early (around 5:30 am) with myself, Jean Irons and a host of others
arrive between 6:20 and 7:00 am were on watch until 10:30 am. A flock of
350 was flying nw over the mouth of Etobicoke Creek/Marie Curtis Park at
11:30 am. Similar to yesterday, large numbers were passing far offshore,
others coming closer, often circling sometimes for 30 minutes and then
continuing migrating west or northwest. I would very much encourage others
who see flocks of whimbrels this afternoon or evening to report them to
ontbirds to get an accurate total day count.

Directions:
Kipling runs directly into Colonel Sam Smith Park and adjacent Humber
College Lakeshore campus, located west of Islington and east of Brown's Line
south of the Q.E.W.

Nonquon: A permit must be obtained for each and every person wishing to =
enter. Permits cannot be shared nor can they be loaned. There are no =
"group entry" privileges. Please adhere rigidly to these requirements as =
the Region of Durham remains concerned about non-municipal staff =
utilizing the facility. Permits must be purchased in advance of entering =
the lagoons. They cost $5.00 as they did last year.

The permits may be purchased at the Durham Region Transfer Site located =
at 1623 Reach Rd, Port Perry during the following business hours .... =
Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and =
Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. To get to the transfer station, =
travel north on Hwy 12 past Port Perry [Hwy 7A] to the next traffic =
lights [Regional Road 8 =3D Reach Rd.] and travel east to #1623 on the =
north side of the road.

The lagoons are located one road north of the transfer site east off Hwy =
12 on Concession Rd. 8 [don't get confused as, despite the fact that =
these roads are both numbered "8", they are two different roads - one is =
a regional paved road, the other a dirt concession road.]
