Here the snow and ice are in fast retreat and although we have seen
no Bonaparte's Gulls on the opening water of Lake Ontario yet, about
30 were feeding at the Amherstview sewage lagoon April 2. Also there
among many ducks were a pair of Northern Shoveler and a male
Canvasback. Observered by Joel Ellis, Bud Rowe, and P. Mackenzie
Amherstview lagoons can be found south off Taylor-Kidd Blvd west of
Coronation Blvd and not far east of County Road 6. It is not
necessary to enter the locked gate to see the birds at the nearest
pond beside the water treatment building there.
