John Winebreener and Lisa Silvey from IN were on the tower until noonish...other visitors were from near and far, many from Michigan. A big thanks to everyone who helped keep up with things during the Broad Winged flights. Weather: Clear blue skies, light winds mainly from the West. Overall a beautiful fall day, but hard on the eyes for finding the hawks due to the cloudless sky. Raptor Observations: The morning gave us 4 great kettles of Broad Winged Hawks. 3 of the 4 were high and distant North East of the tower. The last group was basically over the park road and rather low comparatively. The resident Bald Eagles were around most of the day....2 adults, and 3 immatures soared around the marsh most of the day. A fair amount of Norther Harriers today, with one group of 5 birds going over the marsh together relatively high. Non-raptor Observations: Quite a few groups of Shore birds flying over in the early hours...3 groups with more than 8 birds each noted. A group of at least 6 Norther Flickers along with a pair of Red Headed Woodpeckers migrated thru. Many American Goldfinch, several groups of Chimney Swifts, Barn Swallows. Heard but not seen were Carolina Wrens, and Sora. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Cindy Isenhoff ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) Holiday Beach Migration Observatory information may be found at: http://hbmo.org/ _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
