Visitors:
A great turnout of visitors today with a total of 89 individuals from
various hometowns. Thanks to all those who helped with today's count.
Weather:
A bit hazy and humid to start the day with 100% cloud cover. The haze and
clouds quickly dissapated and by 10:00 am we were wishing it had stayed!!
Winds were light from the N for the entire day.
Raptor Observations:
Today was a very typical September flight with mostly Sharpies (204) and
Kestrels (269). We are starting to see more Coopers (12)...and Harriers
(20)...and had several good Osprey (10). There were also Merlin (6) and
Peregrine (2).
Non-raptor Observations:
A few warblers kicking around the site...and Blue Jays moving in very large
numbers again today (at least 5000+). However, the highlight for the day
was a lone Sandhill Crane that was circling right over the hawkwatch before
heading out.
Predictions:
Keep an eye out for strong SW winds this week....given it's Peregrine
"prime-time" and they love to ride the deflected SW wind as it blows UP the
cliff.
