With rain threatening, yet with medium NW winds, I hoped I would have help at
the platform. Indeed, it arrived, as did a number of raptors before a brief
rain shower at noonhour. I thank Paul McGee for staying on with Graham Leonard
for 32 more hours--35 TVs came through after noonhour.
The trees along the pathway were literally laden with songbirds all morning,
starting at 0830EST

The weather---medium/strong N/NW winds, steady BP; 17C. The Thermal Updraft
Velocity was given as 0, but many of the raptors were certainly riding on
thermals.
SEE THE TABLE BELOW RE. THE RAPTORS-- between 1300 and 1500EST 35 Turkey
Vultures drifted through.
Non-raptors- hundreds of MIGRATING BLUE JAYS;
along the path--yellow-bellied sapsucker, BLUE-HEADED VIREO, WHITE-CROWNED
SPARROW, rose-breasted grosbeak, eastern phoebe, golden-crowned kinglet,
ruby-crowned kinglet, catbird, AND 9 WARBLER SPP.--n.parula, chestnut-sided,
yellow-rumped, c.yellowthroat, black-throated green, black-throated blue, palm,
Nashville, Am.redstart
in the wetland--swamp sparrow, marsh wren,
on the lake--143 common loons (various ages), 3 HORNED GREBE
>From the 401 eastbound, exit at Salem Rd. in Ajax, south to Bayly, the east
>through Lakeridge Rd. to the first street beyond-Hall's Rd.--south toward the
>lake to the second roadside parking area. From the 401 westbound--exit at
>Brock St. in Whitby, south to Victoria St., west right through to Hall's Rd.
