Weather:
After early morning cloudiness, gradual clearing was seen with mostly sunny
conditions remaining throughout the balance of the day. Winds were fairly
strong and brisk from the northwest varying somewhat to the
west-northwest.

Raptor Observations:
After last night’s rain and the passage of a cold front, today was perhaps
a bit slower than anticipated with the flight mainly a TV and Red-tail
event. I suspect that the front as it continued to move to the east blocked
any large movement of raptors.

Non-raptor Observations:
Crows continued to move well today especially in the afternoon with some
particularly large groups noted late in the day. With the strong west winds
overnight, a large area of mudflat was in view at Pointe Mouillee today and
hundreds of feeding gulls were present, mostly Ring-bills but also good
numbers of Bonaparte’s. Shorebirds present included both Yellowlegs,
Dunlin, Semipalmated Sandpiper, Black-bellied Plover, Killdeer and most
surprising, a possible Piping Plover.
