A flock - 30 to 50 - of White-winged Crossbills has finally appeared this afternoon in the wake of a small showing of Pine Siskins and Redpolls earlier this week. A small group of the Crossbills stopped to feed in my backyard.

Where: Markham village area, east of Markham Rd. and north of Robinson St. - specifically, the south end of Grenfell Cres. In the neighbourhood, there are many mature spruce trees hanging heavily with cones.
