On Tuesday evening I observed a male peregrine falcon hunting over my backyard and neighborhood at York and Union St. on the border of Kitchener and Waterloo. It was first seen at about 5:30 pm. After disappearing for a few minutes it reappeared and roosted on the northwest corner of the Sun Life tower where it stayed until 7:45pm. Last evening at about 6pm I was in my backyard and heard rapotros vocalizing, looked up and observed a pair of peregrine falcons flying in circles together constantly vocalizing for a period of about 3 minutes. They then proceeded to roost on the Sun Life tower for about 15 minutes before flying off seperately. I am not sure if they flew around to the other side of the tower - I did not go to check. I make this post mostly to inform local birders to keep an eye open to see if we can confirm that they are nesting.
The Sun Life tower is located at the corner of King and Union street on the border of Kitchener and Waterloo.
