Ontbirders:
The male Varied Thrush was present this morning until I left at 12:40 pm. It
made four visits to feed between 10:00 am and 12:35 pm. A N. Shrike briefly
stirred things up at the feeders. Along with the usual winter feeder birds
was a Red-bellied Woodpecker as first reported by Geoff Simpson.
Bruce Parker, Cobourg
Directions as per Geoff Simpson:
Cold Creek Conservation Area is located on the 11th Concession, between the
15th and 16th Sideroads. From the South, take HWY #27 North to King Road
(Nobleton). Turn left on King Road and drive for 4 km to the 11th Concession
(look for the sign for YMCA Cedar Glen Camp) and turn right (North). Cold
Creek Conservation Area is about 3.5 km on the right, with a large sign out
front. Park on the side of the road into Cold Creek. The first (and only)
driveway on the right is to my house. Walk down the driveway, and try to
keep back from where it splits.
