Yesterday above our farm, a pair of killdeers flew together in a circle over a
defined area, calling all the while, then returned to the same spot and faced
into the wind at the south end of their laps, looking for all the world like
oversized horned larks. Is this typical territorial behaviour? It's the first
time in 30 years I've ever noticed it.
