Folks... This afternoon, at 17:15, while sitting on the porch watching the world go by, I had a Common Nighthawk fly East to West over the south end of town at quite a distance. Having run inside to get the bins, I lost the bird. After 10 minutes of patient porch sitting, the bird was spotted at the same distance flying West to East. Having not seen a single bird in town this summer, I take this to be a slowly wandering migrant. In any case, a nice 'porch' bird.
