A single Brant (pale-bellied) was swimming this morning (11am) with a
several dozen Gadwall and Mallards in the bay south of the south parking lot
in Ashbridge's Bay Park, near the beginning of the boardwalk under
reconstruction. The necklace was quite faint, similar to the 1st summer
bird pictured in Sibley. About 20 others in the Toronto Field Naturalists
outing led by Anne Powell also saw the bird.
The road into Ashbridge's Bay Park is a continuation of Coxwell Ave south of
Lakeshore Blvd in east Toronto. The Woodbine south bus turns around in the
park, or walk south 1400m from the Queen streetcar or Coxwell bus. This map
http://g.co/maps/5ekf8 shows the bird location and the transit stops.
All 3 mergansers and Belted Kingfisher were also present, but no Iceland
gulls or accipiters were noticed this morning.
