Hello,

Several times over the past few days I have observed a white phase red tail
hawk that is at least about 80% white at the HWY 2 interchange of the 401 at
Woodstock. He has a very light red tail and the rest of his body is white with
occasional small dark streaks or patches. He likes to sit in the trees and
scrub area southeast of the interchange usually south of the railroad, and
occasionally he is in the pines northeast of the interchange. The best strategy
to see him, although somewhat dangerous, is to drive eastbound on the 401 and
pull over just as the offramp starts. Also you could drive eastbound on HWY 2
then turn right on HWY 55 and park on the side of the road by the bridge and
walk about 1km back towards the 401 along the railroad. If someone has any info
possibly about why this hawk is so white I would love to know more.

DIRECTIONS: Take 401 towards WOODSTOCK, HWY 2 (Dundas St.) exit 238.

Good Luck,
