Weather: Mild temps and blue skies with a perpetual smear of high cirrus on this laid back Wednesday. The wind was light and out of the south and southeast. Raptor Observations: Sharp-shinned Hawks seemed the only ones interested in moving today. Some small groups of Broadwings and Turkey Vultures decided to join in toward the end of the day, remaining far out in the distant haze and pushing past well to our north. Non-raptor Observations: A Long-billed Dowitcher flew overhead early. Blue Jays (4), Red-winged Blackbirds (200+), Northern Flickers (4) and American Goldfinches (25+) were seen in limited numbers. Predictions: Mostly cloudy with a chance of rain, higher temps and moderate south wind. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Jonathan Stein (steinj...@gmail.com) Detroit River Hawk Watch information may be found at: http://www.drhawkwatch.org Site Description: The Detroit River Hawk Watch (a joint venture of the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge and its Friends group, the International Wildlife Refuge Alliance) is the Boat Launch at Lake Erie Metropark located approximately 20 miles south of Detroit, Michigan.
