Everything from darkened overcast grey to sunny clear blue made an appearance today. The wind was strong and out of the west. Raptor Observations: Few raptors appeared interested in braving the strong west wind. The highlight was our 235th migrant Bald Eagle, equalling the all-time season high count. Important to note here: we're only halfway through the fall! Non-raptor Observations: Great Blue Herons (8) were moving and in small numbers so were Red-winged Blackbirds (200+). That was about it, though. Monarch (6) numbers continue to dwindle. Predictions: Overcast with a 50 percent chance of rain, highs in the upper 50s and moderate west wind. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Jonathan Stein (steinj...@gmail.com) Detroit River Hawk Watch information may be found at: http://www.drhawkwatch.org _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
