Hi Ontbirders:
My wife, Judy, and I watched 10 Sandhill Cranes for about 20 minutes from Smith
Road on the west side of the Mer Bleue east of Ottawa. They were feeding at the
back of a farmer's field just before the woods started.
There were also thousands of Canada Geese along Milton Road, but no Snow Geese.
Directions: From Highway 417 exit at Boundary Road north to Carlsbad Springs.
Turn east on to Russell Road and follow it to Milton Road. Turn north and
follow Milton Road to Smith Road. Turn east along Smith for several hundred
metres. Look for the cranes on the left.
