This morning Ian Cannell and I went up to the Beeton area to hopefully find the Buff-breasted Sandpiper that Wayne Renaud reported yesterday but we didn’t find it where he had it as those sod fields were being heavily worked so we drove around and checked some of the other sod fields and on the 10th Line Ian spotted one at the back end of one of 4 sod fields, about 65 meters from the road.
This may be the same bird that Wayne found that may have been flushed from the Sideroad 15 fields. The only other shorebirds that we found were 40+ Killdeer in various fields. Good spotting by Ian and thanks Wayne. Directions: Exit Hwy 400 at Simcoe Rd 88 (Exit 64) and drive west through Bond Head along 7th Line to Tottenham Rd County Rd 10). Turn right (north) and drive 4.2 kms to 10th Line. Turn right on 10th Line and drive .75 kms and the sod fields are on the north side of the road. The bird was the only bird on this sod field. Good Luck if you go. Norm Murr Richmond Hill Ontario, Canada You can't see birds if you don't go out but sit and wait for others to find them. _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
