Weather: Light rain off and on all day, therefor a good portion of the count was conducted from the second highest level of the Hawk Tower. The rain got fairly hard and didn't appear to be stopping in the afternoon, so the count was ended early. Raptor Observations: Low numbers today as expected with this weather. Sharp-shinned Hawks made up the majority with singles of Osprey, Bald Eagle, Northern Harrier, and Peregrine Falcon. A young Cooper's Hawk spent some time in the area but didn't seem to migrate. Non-raptor Observations: 6,460 Blue Jays today. 5 Warbler species, and the same assortment of dabbling ducks. A single late Bobolink fly-over was a surprise. For the full eBird checklist go to http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist/S31801076 2 Monarchs today. Predictions: Rain all day and Easterly winds. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Sean Jenniskens (seanjennisk...@hotmail.com) Holiday Beach Conservation Area information may be found at: http://hbmo.ca/ _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists (OFO) - the provincial birding organization.
