Charles,

There's a fine line between what is relevant and what is not, and in most
cases it will be a matter of opinion as to what is and what is not
appropriate. My opionion is mine alone, but if a post says nothing that
speaks to what folks in this group are interested in, I don't think it
should appear here, regardless of what may be assumed. Naturally most people
on this list are going to have Asterisk skills, but that doesn't mean that
soliciting people for other skills they may have somehow serves this group.

Some might be tempted to think that the trick in the future is to simply say
"I need people who have the following skills:" and ensure that Asterisk and
VoIP are among the talents mentioned. Personally, I feel that this would
violate the spirit of this list. If the job you are looking to have done is
not relating to what this group focuses on, a lot of people may find the
message to be out of line, in spirit if not in word.

I am glad to hear that you have projects on the table that relate to VoIP,
Emerging Telephony and Asterisk. By all means post them here--that is the
sort of stuff we get excited about.

If, on the other hand, we all start seeing more and more posts that focus on
Microsoft or general Unix/Linux skills, the value of this list to our
community will be severly diluted.

This is something I would work to prevent.

Regards,

Jim

My apologies Jim if I did not share all of what I am looking for.

I am also looking for VoIP (Asterisk) experience. We do have co-lo VoIP
servers at 151 Front Street and often as you may have experienced, co-lo
tends to become managed co-lo and I need the experience to support it. There
are other Asterisk related projects on the table too.

I had thought I did not need to mention Asterisk experience in a VoIP forum.
I figured requesting Unix experience was redundant enough.

I appreciate your message though, as I have sent similar FYI (at other
forums) in the past all be it a little more friendly and less assumed.

Regards,

/Charles

This is an Asterisk business list, so if the business you are posting about
is not relating to Asterisk, this is not the place for it.

There are many of us in this group who are involved in all sorts of
business; if we are now going to use this list for whatever we want, its
value to the Asterisk community will quickly diminish.

If it is not Asterisk (or VoIP) business, it has no business here.

Regards,

Jim

Subject: [biz] Exchange / Windows / Unix Work Opportunities

Greetings!

It occurred to me after seeing Reza’s post, this could actually be a great
forum to seek out the unique.

My first priority is to recruit someone with an exchange background and
preferably someone who is comfortable with Exchange 2003. BES experience
would be an asset. This role would be part-time as needed with no guaranteed
hours. I would need you to be available during the day where you may receive
a support request by phone, by ticket or through your PDA if you use one.
It’s likely that you would only need to do your support through a VPN, but
there is always the chance of an onsite visit. You could be assigned to
projects that may offer you full time work for a couple of weeks depending
on project size. A friendly personality is equally as valuable as your
knowledge!

I’m also looking for junior to senior techs with either Windows Client /
Server or Unix experience (ok this may sound redundant in this forum) for
part-time work. Principal understanding and a friendly personality is more
important to me than hearing you babble about your paper certifications.
Also, it would be nice if you owned a tie.

Unix experience in a hosting environment is preferred (Direct Admin,
H-sphere CPs).

If you are kept busy enough, you will get perks like a PDA, things that will
make you smart, opportunity to touch a Commodore SX64 in pristine condition,
or to hug our Making IT Work girl!

Resumes and pay expectations are helpful. If you drive, mention it.

Work is within the GTA.

Kind regards,

/Charles
