You can also buy a gsm gateway that supports SMS rather than employing 
bayhamsystems or the sort. Just checked prices and they charge $27.42 for 500 
credits. Then, it takes 3 credits for a single SMS to Canada => $0.16/SMS.
 
Problem with a GSM gatway is with the terms of service that comes with your SIM 
card. They might not like 1000 msgs a day but again they might have some 
business service you can sign up for which will be cheaper than 16 cents.>
