I don't think that sending out 3,000 SMS in a short period will be feasible without a 3rd party service. If you use an SMS gateway, how many messages can you send per minute? Not too many, I suspect. Rogers might wonder who can type 500 txts per minute, even with T9 turned on! :-)

Using Bayham's pricing for 20,000 credits (eg. credits required to send 3,000 SMS twice), that works out at about 11.8 cents per txt.

Maybe there is a cheaper service available but a service is needed.

Drew

You can also buy a gsm gateway that supports SMS rather than employing bayhamsystems or the sort. Just checked prices and they charge $27.42 for 500 credits. Then, it takes 3 credits for a single SMS to Canada => $0.16/SMS. Problem with a GSM gatway is with the terms of service that comes with your SIM card. They might not like 1000 msgs a day but again they might have some business service you can sign up for which will be cheaper than 16 cents.
