At the Auction, sheep in multi colour as Blackbellies are called Pintos.
just got a phonecall from the Auction.

You want belive it, but now we see the turn.

For years white lambs did always get a better price. This changed first time, as in january blackbelly lambs have been higher paid in Michigan are than wool lambs.Never happend before.

And today the Auctionares comment: Pinot lambs( black and white) getting the better price, and first time in history
lamb prices are going up in August /September, never happend before!

The buyers, after 15 years of work from our side, have no realized in large scale, that the hair sheep hybrids
in multi colour have the better flavoured meat.

Funny to see, as the breeders use now white terminal rams, as coloured lambs have been deducted !
Is that not interesting, the play between customer and producer ?
For many years the producer knew that the pintos have the better meat, but could not get the price for. Now after long time, the customer as butcher is forced to buy coloured lambs, as the meat buyer is seraching the flavour. IF THE PRODUCER WOULD NOT HAVE SWITCHED TO WHITE RAMS, AS ILE DE FRANCE TERMINLA RAMS, PRICE FOR PINTOS WOULD STILL BE AT 25% DOWN TO WHITE LAMBS.BUT BECAUSE WE HAVE A SHORTIGE IN PINTOS TODAY, PRICE WENT TO CORRECT LEVEL ! Many of your readers gone like that, as they have been so frustated with the past auctionmarket, they got nothing for the so called good flavoured meat lamb!White hair sheep lambs went for 1.33 a pound liveweight, Pintos for 1.50 !

Regards Helmut
