My younger ewes will challenge the older ewes also. It does seem that they are really getting into it, and yes I believe it is a discussion for dominance. I leave mine alone to work out their own pecking order. I have yet to have any injuries. It soon quiets down with sometimes a new pecking order in the flock. Sue

Subject: [blackbelly] Female Barbadoes Playing?
Date: Mon, 19 Sep 2005 10:41:27 -0700 (PDT)

I have had two female barbados for 6/7 years now. I
have seen them
play and butt heads every once in awhile. But
yesterday we got to
watching and the younger one was really stepping far
back and
running full force with her head down and butted the
other one, we
could feel the ground move! It was that hard. This
happened a
couple of times until the other one got weak looking.
Then the
younder one started full force butting the others
belly area.
Younger one chased her until the other finally gave up
from weakness
and we had to seperate them. Now the older one is tame
and the
younger one can jump higher than our heads and she is
the follower.
Seemed like forever friends until yesterday.

Is this dominance? Are they bored? Do I keep them
seperate like
they are now? The younger one is almost jumping the
fence and is
baahing to get back in with the other.

They are both pets and seemed to be soul mates, do I
need to get rid
of meanie?

Help, Michelle
