For my 2 cents... they're not playing. They're having a heated discussion. (Imagine a pro-lifer vs a pro-choicer.... not pretty!) At the end of the discussion, one will claim victory & the other will give in.

Separating them won't help the situation, they will resume the conflict as soon 
as they are able.
Removing one won't help, as that will just open up an opportunity for another ewe with the opposing view to step up to the plate.

Animals do at time act like animals, which is better than acting like humans who are more likely to pull out a gun to get their point across. Really, this is just a part of barnyard life. Establishing a heirarchy is part of their life.
