Welsh Black Mountain are an endangered wool breed (only one bloodline in the U.S.). SHEEP-L is probably the most popular general sheep listserv amongst shepherds world-wide. The list is populated primarily by wool breeders, is often rude, mean, and obnoxious, and is one of the most helpful and generous resources for sheep questions. You can subscribe to SHEEP-L by visiting
http://www-listserv.uu.se/archives/sheep-l.html

I find most SHEEP-L posts to be inapplicable to our sturdy, disease-resistant, easy-lambing Blackbelly Barbados sheep. However, there often are great discussions on pasture, fencing, and general sheep stuff that are very valuable.

My advice: subscribe to SHEEP-L, listen, learn, be brave and post. Come back here to our "family" to discuss your findings with blackbelly people who won't bite your head off for asking questions, "newbie" or otherwise.

OK, what are Welsh Black Mountain sheep? (re the fellow in Colorado) Are
they different from Black Hawaiians? And, is SHEEP-L another list or
private?
