I have bred approximately 380 ewes for 2004 lambing. These ewes should
produce a minimum of 570 lambs, 50% of which will be ewe lambs. This is more
ewe lambs than I will need so I am posting this now as some of you may be
interested in the matings I have made and the resulting ewe lambs. It's
never too early to plan for the future.

I have made the following matings:

70 percentage East Friesian or percentage Lacaune ewes bred to Dorset ram.
Ram is a high indexing McNally Dorset from a dam line selected for milk
production. This ram is also a heterozygous Booroola gene carrier. Milk
production records for these ewes will be available.

30 percentage East Friesian or percentage Lacaune ewes bred to 7/8 Lacaune
ram. Ram's dam produced 833# of milk in 198 days during her second
lactation. Milk
production records for these ewes will be available.

35 percentage East Friesian ewes bred to fullblood East Friesian ram. Ram
from
"Super Elite Dutch" East Friesian genetics. Milk production records for
these ewes will be available.

40 fullblood Icelandic ewes bred to fullblood East Friesian ram. Ram from
"Super Elite Dutch" East Friesian genetics. Milk production records for
these ewes will be
available.

25 fullblood Icelandic ewes bred to fullblood Icelandic ram. Ram from
bloodlines selected for milk production. Milk production records for these
ewes will be available.

50 hair breed, i.e. Katahdin, St. Croix, Barbados/Romanov, Dorper/Hair breed
cross ewes bred to 7/8 Lacaune ram. Ram's dam produced 338# of milk in 212
days during her second lactation. No milk records will be available for
these ewes.

40 hair breed ewes (same as above) bred to fullblood White Dorper ram. Ram
from Grant's Dorpers in Oregon. No milk records will be available for these
ewes.

Fullblood St. Croix ewes bred to fullblood East Friesian ram. No milk
records for these
ewes.

Percentage East Friesian ewes bred to fullblood St. Croix Ram. Milk records
will be
available.

Balance of ewes are bred to Suffolk for terminal lambs.
