Our ram, Boots, is in with the ewes all the time also. We have a banded ram
9 almost a year old ) in with the flock right now and he doesn't seem to
bother Boots. We do separate the ram lambs at about 12 weeks from the main
flock for the safety of the ram lambs. As someone else said, if there are
more than 2 in there, the ram seems to spend more time chasing them away
from the ewes than he does to breeding. We have often thought about removing
Boots after the ewes lamb but aren't set up for that right at this time. We
were told once that if you were to separate the ram from the ewes, it was
better to keep the ram close enough to see his ewes or he would get (
excuse the pun ) rambunctious. Any comments on this? Wouldlike to hear what
you think.
