I have a February 2003 intact ram lamb. I have no clue how much he weighs... I've been trying to find a home for him, as he is very handsome (solid black with a nice curling set of horns) but... I think he's destined to be ramburger.
Will a butcher know what to do with my ram? Or do I have to tell them Blackbelly specific info of some sort? Is there anyone that anyone knows that does something with the horns? the hide? I hate to think of it going to waste.
Is there some site online that is Blackbelly specific in guesstimating dressed weights? Yeah, I could do a Google search.... but... if you guys already KNOW a site off the top of your head ;-)
Do intact ram lambs put on weight faster than wethers?
My sheep are grass fed... grain every great once in a while as a treat. How is the taste gonna compared to restaurant lamb? (I do buy lamb chops every once in a while at Sam's... I think it's New Zealand lamb???)
Should I grain him a bit before taking him to the butcher? If so, how much & how long? 100% grain diet for ??
