I agree with Carol that it depends on what side of the sheep breed fence you're sitting on as to what you would lke and don't like. I can't compare them cause I have never had woolie meat, only BB meat. I personally love it! Ted has had both and says there is definately a difference in taste - Bb for the better of the 2. So I have to go by his experience.
As for the bottle lamb, I did have one Susan that acted just the way yours is. He only made it for 5 days and died. He slept, never bellered to be fed, had to be force fed. He was rejected at birth and was in the barn away from the rest and cold. I am thinking you have been blessed cause it got the colostrum which I don't think this one of ours did. I have always felt that that particular lamb didn't have the will to survive.
We tried out a new sale this weekend in MAdison, Ne. We were very pleased with the results. The sale we went to last spring was horrid. Top dollar we got was $45. This year at this sale we almost doubled that so we were very pleased.
A couple other things - I wanted to ask Larry how the shepherd's clinic went. I am very curious to hear what Bob Rule had to say about Iowa Lamb.
2ndly - a big thank you to Carol who manages all this and for letting us be placed on the breeder's map. We got a call 2 weeks ago from a gal in Minnesota who was looking to buy ewe lambs as relatively close to her as she could get. She found us on the map so again thank you. This is a great listserve and I enjoy reading the messages and learning and getting ideas from all of you. I have recommended this site to several others.
Hope you are enjoying spring like weather. The sheep are " molting" LOL and our ram is standing at the fence each night waiting for me to comb the loose stuff off of him!!!! Spring is here!!!!!!! Sue
