Much has been written about the standards of both, as well as the registry of the BBSAI. When it boils down to it, there is a difference in the two. However a lot of people are still unaware of the differences. I, for one, was unaware of the differences until a year ago. Through my job as Secretary/Treasurer of the BBSAI, I had to learn and apply those differences in registering both breeds. We had folks, like myself, that did not know the differences who were trying to register a horned sheep as a polled sheep. Luckily through pictures that we require, we were able to ascertain the correct breed. With all of this said, the BBSAI is trying to correct the discrepancies for each breed. We need everyone's help, members and non-members, help to correct this situation. There are a few of us actively involved trying to rectify this. We need everyone's help to accomplish this! We are all in this to improve the standards for each breed. I would caution everyone to look at the last active date of the studies and information obtained by the Oklahoma website that has been referred to in several messages. There have been and will be significant strides made to clarify each breed and their standards. Through education and hard work, we will be able, as a collective group, to preserve these wonderful animals. Instead of casting stones, let us all cast constructive ideas for this important cause. Without all of us working together, this situation will be in the same place five years from now!
