My sheep start doing this when the bugs come out. I dunno how they came up with the brilliant idea that bugs won't fly close to the ground (what do I know.. maybe they don't!).
When the bugs are really nasty, the sheep lie around all day & only graze when it's dark. (Maybe the bugs don't fly then either.)
