Welcome to the biting fly season....   Since we can no longer get fly spray with a residual effect, only knockdown, we can only kill the flies that are on the sheep and what fly on the premises.....
 
Mi ne do the same thing.  when they are spending more time running than resting or grazing, I spray them with a weak solution of permethrin...  I have also mixed permethrin with mineral oil and pored it down the center of their backs..  This lasts longer than a spray.   The woolly coat is hard to penetrate without a little dishwashing liquid soap when spraying...
