Hi, from my experience, they do sometimes get diarhea shortly before or after
lambing; not always. If it lasts more than a couple of days, I would be
concerned - maybe others have had more expereince with this - I've only had one
ewe that did that. I have had ewes with swollen 'privates' for up to 2 weeks
before lambing - others hardly seem to swell until the day. The only thing, so
far, that I have observed that told me that 'TODAY IS THE DAY' is they stop
eating.

Just keep a watch on her and help her if needed; otherwise, let her (and
mother nature) take care of it - they usually know what they're doing.

Good Luck,
Onalee

I have another question. Since this will be our first lambing I am not sure
what to expect. My ewe is expecting in the next week or two. Today I noticed
that she has diarhea. Is this normal for being this close to lambing or is
it something I need to be concerned about. This is her first lambing, also.
Not knowing what else to call them, I noticed for about the last week her
privates" are pooched out. Other than the diarhea she is acting just fine,
eating, drinking.

Thank you,
Julie Riha
