It is helpful if one is born with three hands. LOL.

If you can get help to hold the subject, you can then concentrate on the
milking part.
One thing I have found is that I use an old saucepan. One that is not too
deep and is very flat on the bottom. (After all it is a little ambitious to
think that you can get more than a cup of milk). Cover the top with a piece
of clean cotton sheet. Held on with an elastic band. This will prevent any
hair or dirt from getting in the pan. If the container is 8- 10 inches in
diameter it will give you a good "target", so most of the milk will make the
mark. You can then set it on the ground and hold one rear leg (usually up)
while you attempt to milk off with the other hand. Wedging the animal
against a wall with your leg/knee is helpful. Also a little handfull of
grain in a dish with give at least 30 seconds of cooperation.
On a small teat. Use your thumb while supporting the teat with your fingers
and squeeze gently downward to express the milk.
After a few times it gets easier. (Not great, just a bit easier.)
Hope this is of some help.
Chris H.
