Dear Susan,
I don't inbreed my stock. I have kept good records on each of my lambs parentage. I separate my lamb ewes from their sire after they are weaned; then breed the Mother ewe back to ram again.
I was careful in my purchases of the ewes and ram.  I have lineage on all of the registered ewes.  And I email the breeder of if I have questions about breeding a ram to a ewe.
The lamb ewes will not be breed until they are 9 months to a year.  So I have enough time to look for and purchase another breeding polled ram unrelated to my flock.  I have a ram located in NC and have been working on transportation for him.
In September I will be a the BBB event in Illinois and I hope to purchase a polled ram lamb, polled ram or contract with another breeder for a polled ram lamb.  If I can't locate another BBB ram than I will not breed the lamb ewes to the fathering ram. Period.
Pure Polled rams are difficult to purchase or find. I hope with breeding my Hh ram to good registered ewe will eventually product a second generation polled ram.
Sincerely,
Sherry
