Bobbie, I couldn't get an answer from James Harper either about the vote; but, thankfully Carol has given us that answer. Shall we start campaigning for one of the choices?

Subject: [blackbelly] BBSAI

Does anyone know if the BBSAI is planning a vote on a name change to
differentiate between horned and polled stock? I heard through the
grapevine there was going to be one. I contacted the BBSAI via their online
form with the question, with no reply.

Hi Bobbie,

The BBSAI cannot and is not suggesting that the Barbado breed name be changed in general. To do so would be pretentious and make thousands of Barbado breeders upset. The BBSAI is asking its members to decide on a name to call those Barbado sheep that are registered with the BBSAI and meet a specific breed standard. The vote currently before the membership is to select one of the following options:

Barbado (no change)
American Barbado
American Blackbelly

Votes will be counted at the annual meeting September 11/12.

Carol
