Hello all,
I decided to try scour-halt on my ewe with a bad case of scours.I gave her 10cc's orally over a two day period. The good news is it worked and she is almost fully pelleting for the first time in a while.
The bad news is this treatment was very hard on her system. She was listless, had very little appetite, and lay down apart from the other sheep. I spent both afternoons with her, holding a stick in her mouth to get her to chew her cud. Needless to say I was worried I had done more harm than good.
I would recommend this only as a last resort, that is if you've tried everything else and it just isn't working.Be prepared to watch treated sheep closely.
I now have baking soda free-choice in their shelter. It may be a slower way to treat scours but in my opinion a whole lot easier on the sheep.
