Huh. I guess I must have done those steps ages ago and not remembered
to try again for the new version after installing snow leopard. You're
right - now I have access to the shelf - both for showing and for
putting stuff on.

Still though it won't stick to its edge, and I'm failing to set up a
functional trigger to get to it quicker. There are a lot of
manipulations to go through to get there.
