I suppose I should qualify my remark made earlier in blfs-book
where Alexander is quoting me from. In message
http://archives.linuxfromscratch.org/mail-archives/blfs-dev/2005-October/011666.html,
Andy said the following:

"It seems to me that there is some dead wood that should be
pruned from BLFS. glib-1.2 hasn't been able to compile unpatched
since gcc-3.3. I'd drop it as unmaintained, along with all the
gtk1 applications. Gnome-1, Xmms, bin the lot of them."

This is why in blfs-book I said, "I know Andy wants to get rid
of all GTK1 applications".

I am posting this message because I didn't want folks to think
I was putting words in Andy's mouth.
