There is few things with the Xorg7 dependencies listed in the book that I have
not very clear.
- Xorg Libraries isn't listed as a dependency for any other Xorg-* section,
only for Mesa. Is true that any other Xorg7 package requires Xorg Libraries?
Mesa was a required dep of apps and server not long ago. The libs need
to be in place for apps and server for certain.
- Mesa is a recommended dependency for Xorg Applications and optional for
Xorg Server. I think that if the user want to use a third-part video driver
like Nvidia, Mesa isn't needed at all. If that is true, maybe a note should
be added.
No, you'll still have to have a GL lib (and headers) in place to build
glx, xprint, and drm in the xorg-server. I don't know about NVidia
binary drivers and includes, but IIRC they do _replace_ one of the gl
libs. Can somebody with the binary NV drivers, confirm what is actually
installed please? ATI too (if necessary, I don't use the binaries).
- Mesa is listed also as an dependency for libtiff, but libtiif have also an
optional dependency on X, that already includes Mesa. Isn't that redundant?
I guess that you've seen further in the thread by now....it needs an
explanation.
Thanks.
