Yeah, I think, that is the whole point: when I started to build GnuCash (some years ago), I did (and still do) not want any GNOME (or KDE) stuff other than absolutely neccessary to build GnuCash, but I ended up installing "a good portion of GNOME". Before that experience I wouldn't have trusted anyone saying something similar to "just install GNOME". Therefore I think it might be useful to put a kind of initial hint to to the BLFS GnuCash site, that the mentioned dependencies will pull in a lot of GNOME stuff... Just because GnuCash is one of those applications many people without a(nother) need for GNOME or KDE would consider to build...
