I think that's probably true. I can start working on HAL-0.5.8.1. I'm
still mucking around in LFS phase getting all my bits up to speed, but
I should be there soon. This will be one of the first things I play
with once I get LFS-SVN up. HAL-0.5.9 is coming up real soon, but it
has quite bit more changes.

I wanted to put off dbus-1.0.2 a bit longer, but it seems like that
should happen since a lot the gnome stack uses dbus. So, I would make
sure you get the newer dbus in as you build 2.18. If you come across
any breakage, please note it in Trac. In fact, I know HAL itself will
need a patch regardless of which released version you use.
