Beyond what Andy has noted - on this system I installed pulse (but
gave up on it), as well as cups and polkit. In system.d/ I have

ken@ac30 ~ $ls -l /etc/dbus-1/system.d/
total 20
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 7305 Dec 13 00:18 ConsoleKit.conf
-r--r--r-- 1 root root 460 Nov 29 13:53 cups.conf
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 632 Dec 7 02:04 org.freedesktop.PolicyKit1.conf
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1408 Dec 13 00:01 pulseaudio-system.conf

In my /etc/gnome version I have
ken@ac30 ~ $ls -l /etc/gnome/dbus-1/system.d/
total 4
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 570 Dec 7 02:05 org.gnome.GConf.Defaults.conf

 which is from GConf-3.2.3.

I'm also tempted to ask why we (both LFS and BLFS) should pay so
much attention to fhs when it primarily exists for binary software.
But, that might divert the thread, and will probably cause even more
annoyance than I've managed so far, so I won't - for the moment ;-)
