Using a sourceforge variant for http download, > > What's the background behind this? > > -- Bruce It was an attempt to get a working http URL. When I looked at 21, and again at 22, releases.mozilla.org was a mirror somewhere, and it had stopped holding the firefox source. I believe it was a USA mirror, possibly where {B,}LFS is mirrored, but I don't have any details. There was a message telling people to use sourceforge.
I noted that in #3852 but it didn't make it into the book. Checked again a few days ago when I wanted to download 22, still got a 404. As of a few minutes ago, the old URL is working. I could have saved some time fscking about with sf URLs. I'll revert that part, but this is probably the last time I touch it. ++unimpressed by mozilla. ĸen -- das eine Mal als Tragödie, das andere Mal als Farce -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/blfs-dev FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page
