But I have not built it since LFS-7.5, and for a non-gnome desktop it does not seem to be useful at the moment. (I regard vala as part of gnome). I guess that (if it has not already been changed) moving it to Required and adding '(if building gnome),' before the next package in the list would show that not everybody needs it.
