I completed all of chapters 6 and 7 in firefox, and qupzilla (on
this machine) and also looked at 7.3.3.2 on my netbook with firefox
(1024x600 screen). I did make a few more pngs, but in view of the
developments re mobile usage this investigation has become -

 "overtaken by events".

I would however like to note the following:

1. firefox with 18/14 DejaVu :

1.1 table 6.1 (6.69.2 Man-DB) looks great - I don't think we have
any other tables.

1.2 in 7.3 Overview of Device and Module Handling -

At 7.3.3.2 the heading "A kernel module is not loaded automatically,
and Udev is not intended to load it" overflows (i.e. 'it' is on a
second line. On the current stylesheet there is no problem because
the full width is used.

2.Curiously, on my netbook that line in 7.3.3.2 also fits on one
line with the new stylesheet (sans-serif 16).

3. qupzilla with Liberation Sans 15 and Liberation Mono 13

The main text is scrollable to the side, even if I maximize the
index page. Also, the lines of the heading on the index which are
below the penguin can leak about 1 character position into the
navigation column (that is, a small background-blue rectangle
appears there).

But if I make the window *marginally* smaller than what it was,
scrolling the index sideways no longer bleeds like that.

The commands in 6.9.2.2 only take part of the available space.

4. At this point in qupzilla I changed to 16/16 pt with the same
fonts because the text was a bit hard to read (I don't normally read
the books in qupzilla).

4.1 If I maximize, I can still scroll sizeways, text then appears
below the navigation column. At the reduced normal window size I
cannot scroll sideways and do not need to.

4.2 After that, it is generally ok, but I eventually noticed the wide
black edge on the 'Contents' boxes and wondered 'Why ?'.

4.3 For the record, the text of 7.3.3.2 fits well within one line in
this combination, so it is very much affected by the font choice and
hte font size.
