Overall, I now feel worried about all these internal third-party libs. But, running ldd on /opt/qt5/lib/libQt5WebEngineCore.so I can see among many other system libs - libz.so.1 => /lib/libz.so.1 (0x00007feda01b5000) libicui18n.so.57 => /usr/lib/libicui18n.so.57 (0x00007fed9f675000) libicuuc.so.57 => /usr/lib/libicuuc.so.57 (0x00007fed9f2cd000) libicudata.so.57 => /usr/lib/libicudata.so.57 (0x00007fed9d84d000) So zlib (it that was what it really meant, rather than some zip library) and icu appear to be using system libs. I just did a quick test of some random video from the front page of youtube - works, so either one of the other Qt5 libs is linking to ffmpeg or else it really did use a shipped copy. As we say here, "it never rains, but it pours". I'm not always averse to shipped libs if they are only used in one package, particularly if there is no separate upstream, but that doesn't apply to ffmpeg.
