Yeah, but I was commenting on Bruce's commit (rendered locally)
because I saw he'd already done it by the time I looked at the mail.

More to the point, thanks to Pierre's investigations it starts to
look as if only non-KMS drivers need the wrapper.  But as to which
drivers that covers, I have no idea.  Maybe we'll end up with a Note
saying that if you want to use non-KMS drivers (with examples) you
need to add the wrapper.

I suppose it depends on how common non-KMS drivers are.
