After using the CD and nALFS to create a base LFS 6 system, I installed cracklib, PAM, and shadow exactly as described in the BLFS 6.0 book (same package versions, same instructions)...I realize now in retrospect I should have tested each of these individually...because now, nobody other than root can log onto this system. Any other user, whether existing prior to the installation of these packages or created new, receives an "invald login" message.

If anyone has any idea what I might have done wrong, please let me know. I will be happy to provide any additional information that might be needed, although I'm at work now rather than at home where my build system is.
