That's a neat trick. According to the GNOME Roadmap and Development
page (http://live.gnome.org/TwoPointThirteen), 2.12.3 isn't due out
until February 8th of next year. And the current sources pages
(http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/platform/2.12/) and
(http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/desktop/2.12/) only show current
tarballs for the 2.12.2 version.

Are you using development tarballs? If so, that is probably 2.13.x
tarballs which will eventually be released as GNOME-2.14.x.
